Hey Guys,

I've just joined this forum, so please don't shoot me down as I have a small issue with my newly purchased i30.
It is a 2008 turbo diesel manual.

The rear demistor is not functioning at all.

The switch does not light up as it should, and there is no clicking from a relay as some google searches have sugested.

I have power on both sides of the 40a fuse under the bonet, but no power on either side of the 10a fuse in the cabin (yes the ignition switch was on)

So my understanding from hours of searching is that there is potentially an issue with the demister relay?  Only problem is, no one knows where it is located??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Leon

:welcum: We won't shoot you down! At least it doesn't sound like the stencil on the back window has been damaged. Sorry, I can't help with the relay...

Thanks for the reply.

The rear window stencil has continuity across it, so I'm still convinced the issue is before the 2nd 10a fuse inside the car.

The relay is located in the white plastic junction box located above your right knee, inside the vehicle.

IP/G is the in side of the relay and IP/F is the out to the window. Hope that helps.

No, it should be located up under the dashboard. You will have to remove the cover and then you should see the white junction box. It is a very busy junction box with many wires and plugs.

LHD shown, but reverse for RHD.

Thanks to Phil's advice it's fixed!

The entire panel had to be removed. Upon inspection the 2 relays were soldered onto the circuit board, and weren't removable. I sourced a second hand replacement junction box from a local wreckers for $75, installed it and the problem is solved!

Here are some pictures for future reference.
