Looks great in the photo.

Main things with Turbo diesel is...

1) Wait til glow plug light goes out before starting (particularly in cold climates)

2) Keep her in the torque band - roughly 1700 -2500 RPM for best economy (seldom need to rev past 3000 RPM)

3) Let her idle for a bit (minute or two) after a long hard run, before turning the engine off.. ( So oil doesn't burn onto the fins of the turbo)

Some 1st time users drive them like a high revving petrol engine, then wonder why not getting good economy!  :crazy2:

I think you'll be enjoying your car for quite some time. As a first-time Diesel owner myself, I can't imagine ever going back. My rental here in Indonesia is a Toyota 2 litre auto petrol and it truly feels like a massive retrograde step. Can't wait to get back to Firty. :victory:

Hi Tom and welcome

Interesting that you bought your i30 in the UK - was this because there not much choice in your local area or you simply found a better deal here?

Hi wbm00. I bought it in Dublin. The garage/dealer i got it off brings the cars in from the UK. Got the plates changed with the price. But yes it was a better deal than anywhere else. Only thing is the bits of rust in the under body and on some of the alloy wheels. Cause being salt on the roads in the UK, so i heard from a few ppl.

Corrosion under the vehicle is something I posted about quite recently:

There are preparations that can arrest any further corrosion and neutralise the existing rust. Good job for you to do on the week end.  :goodjob2:
