Hi all. Just picked up my first import this week. So far I love the thing!! 2014 Elantra GLS Coupe. I give it a solid 8 out of 10. Only thing lacking is the quickness off the line. Other than that this thing is loaded and solid as a rock.. Stock for now but looking to do some engine upgrades in the future. Any suggestions would be great!!

GDay, Nate. She looks good. What's your profile info? Location (at least country) will help share relevant advice like servicing venues, model/spares availability and other resources as well as opportunities to meet up for the like-minded.

:wlcome02: Nate, as Gonz has mentioned some details about your locality would help.

In Australia the Elantras come with 1.8ltr engines and there is nothing in the way of engine upgrades that I know of as all the performance stuff is engineered in Korea for the 1.6 and 2.0ltr engines.

About the most you would be able to do is a custom air intake that you would have to make yourself though that will add only small changes in the way of performance and a custom cat back exhaust system as there is no extractors made for the 1.8ltr that I've seen so if you want them they would need to be custom made and wont be cheap (extractors will void your engine warranty), one of the Sprint car shops I've dealt with before quoted about 2k to custom make extractors but luckily they make them in Korea for my 1.6ltr.

ECU upgrades are pretty much non existent unless you're able to find someone very capable of doing an ECU out upgrade but I've not seen/heard of anything for the 1.8ltr's, there is some new Haltec ECU replacement options coming onto the market though quite time consuming and costly at around 3k and really only of benefit if you've already done the intake and exhaust first.

Welcome Nate, Nice looking car!

I'm guessing by the fact it is a 2 door GLS that you are in Canada or the USA.

A quick google makes me think it is a 2.0 Petrol, 6 speed auto..

It appears to be the GDi 2.0 litre at that! Which is a good motor!

Thanks Dazz :goodjob:

If it's the 2ltr then there should be plenty of options in the US in the way of mods and ECU modifications, you can even get the bolt on turbo kits from Korea for that engine :link: 2013-2015 Elantra Coupe Bolt-On Turbo Kit - Shark Racing

Yes my motor is the 2.0L. Nice engine but needs a little more pep! I am Canadian. There are not many Elantra coupes in this country. So far I have the only one I've seen in my city. Tons of 4dr's tho.
