The old Korean Built FD's we got in Australia were/ are giving huge mileage from brake pads (up to 100K or more in some cases I believe)

The newer Korean built GD hatches should be similar hopefully.

The Euro built Tourer and 3 door we got in Australia (no longer imported) have quite soft pads which quickly discolour the wheels, so i suspect they will have a much shorter life (less than 50K maybe?)

There is great variance in brake pad and rotor durability. My 1st gen Hyundai Excel was traded in at over 200,000 km with the original unmachined rotors still in good condition. My Opel Astra CD, on the other hand chewed out rotors and pads in 25,000 km (gently driven). The Focus LS was pretty good, requiring new rotors and pads around 80,000km.

I'm hoping that the i30 is hard-wearing in the brake department!

A lot depends on where they source the Discs from as the steel quality can be quite poor with some companies, though the Euro GD pads do create more dust but as a benefit they stop better by being a softer pad which should inturn make the discs last a long time :fingers:

I've had the car from new. The original rear pads and discs on my UK specification shine red 2009.5 model year 6 speed manual 1.6 u2 crdi comfort hatchback were replaced at 190,000 miles. The fronts made it to 200,000 miles.
