How many members in South East Queensland are having problems with Bigpond mail ? for the last few days I can receive emails but unable to send outgoing mail. The outgoing SMTP mail.bigpond.com  cannot connect to server. Fed up with being asked to sign into mail  account ,even with correct details it will not validate. This is happening to frequently . I have also got an account with Google mail that seems to be so much more reliable but it means I have to notify all contacts. :(    Might have to bite the bullet and switch completely over to Google mail.

I'm with iinet.  No issues.
Didn't Telstra have issues thhe other day.
I'd suggest a gmail account.

Unfortunately Telstra are always having problems. The other day they they had a fire that cut out mobile phones etc but apart from that problems are consistent. :crazy1:

Cant you set your bigpond email to forward directly to gmail? then you don't have to bother changing anything.

Personally I prefer Outlook.com as I see far less spam get through their spam filtering defences (TrendMicro)

Hope I'm not setting myself up for a fall but neither my iinet mail nor gmail gives me problems with spam. Hotmail did for both me and my wife.
So their spam filters must be good. Combined with Kaspersky on W7 an 98. And whatever w10 offers in its package now.

Trev, I was referring to the spam filters used by the online email client, since Outlook had their major overhaul in this last year I rarely see spam anymore.

Did think of that Craig but will mail from Telstra be forwarded to Google mail  if  Bigpond  has one of their many outages ? I don't think Outlook works as well on Mac  OSX.

If they have an outage then I guess it wouldn't get forwarded :undecided: but if it's an outage then you cant access direct either :Pout:

I forget you're on a Mac, wouldn't it be easier just to use their webmail :link: Outlook.com - Microsoft free personal email safer than downloading mail to the system.

Have used the web mail but it is a bit of a pain logging into it each time. Will probably end up just using Google mail , seems more reliable. Three days and still can't send mail with bigpond. :crazy1:
