Heya guys/gals/other,

I was driving home yesterday and remembered a kinda funny driving experience that I thought I'd share and maybe we can all share a funny or heartwarming i30 driving moment.

Moment follows:

When I first got my i30 I decided to go for a nice long drive so I was driving along to a friends house in Richmond and I was cruising nicely along the motorway when I caught up to a line of cars. There were 4 of them and they were all Hyundai Sonata's. Each car was packed with Korean families. They all had little Korean flags stuck to the back windows. They were only going slow (about 90km/h) so I changed lanes and passed them. Each one I passed, the back seat was filled with kids and they all looked once at me, saw I was driving an i30 and started yelling at their, I assume, parents in the front who then also looked at me. They all then started waving and grinning. Well I had to wave and grin back. It was a nice moment to look in the rear view mirror and still see them waving and smiling as I drove away.

With Sheldon in the "shop" so to speak at the moment, I've borrowed a car from my mother. Let's just say that it's enlightened me to the fact that EVERY driving moment in the i30 is memorable. Driving the Mazda 626 is a nightmare. XD

PS! I saw /three/ full trucks carrying a variety of i30 and i30cws up Mt Ousley this morning!

I've had guys (in Imprezas, Vauxhall VXR's, Civics even a couple of Audis and Mercs) winding down windows to talk about the i30 at traffic lights.

You also get the approving look as cars pass you or vice versa on the motorways, I have seen some passengers twisting right round to get an ifull!

It's a wierd feeling having spent so long in  just another Impreza!

being told by a mate a owner of a 2l turbo 180sx that 1.6l diesels are gutless and slow then following him through 20Ks of winding roads and sitting right behind him when he was trying to out run us .

that has to be the biggest wake up of all time about diesel technology being efficient and powerful with little engines

Cheers
Brandon

I've had a few memorable drives in my time. But the one that got my heart going was way back in the early nineties.  I had more money than sense back then and was driving a Toyota Supra Turbo. I was coming home from Aberdovey, I got to the island at the Brigands Inn and turned on to the A458, there is a small straight before it starts to get to the more tight turns. On this small straight stretch I could see a blue car ahead not going particularly fast so I went passed like a scolded cat. But as I was passing I suddenly noticed a small white plate on the back bumper saying police advanced driver training  :-[  Anyway within about a minute it had caught me up. I tell you I drove to the speed limit and it followed me all the way to Welshpool.

Heehee. Glad to see that I'm not the only one who does this. I think my husband is getting sick of me doing it as well!

One waved at me the other day, his was vivid blue also and he was pointing at mine and speaking to his partner, I imagined the conversation going something like "see, I told you the stripes would look OK!"

In my younger days as a Renault driver we always flashed the lights at one another on the open road. Late 60's to mid 70's in Oz.
Maybe we should start a new trend.

I had a Renault Virage Special 1.4

Only problem with that is if you flash someone these days they think you are warning them about a speed camera and in Tassie you can be booked by the cops for doing that if you get caught... :'(

^^^
Been the same all over Oz for years.
Had to explain it to a cop once. Only being able to show him my RCCQ membership card gave any credence to my story.
I was long before the Virage. I think that was a later badging of the R12???
Had R10, R12, Gordini, R8 etc over a good few years in the late 60's and most of the 70's.
