Does anyone else have a problem with condensation/frost on the windscreen? I don't drive the car in the mornings so haven't really experienced it so much, but my wife tells me it always takes an age for the fans to demist the front windscreen and on top of that she said there was a layer of frost on the inside of the windscreen the other day... Seems a bit strange, used to happen to my old rover parked on the road but wouldn't expect it from a new i30... This is in the UK, temps been down to I'm guessing -2 or so at night. Anyone else had similar problems?

I've had the condensation issue quite a lot but the demister clears it quite quickly, especially with the aircon switched on (it comes on automatically when I select the fast-demist button).

As for preventing it happening, have you noticed that the airflow flaps stay in whatever position you last left them in when you turn off and remove the key? So, if you had air directed at the windscreen (or even in "auto", for climate control) when you last parked up, the airflow flaps would remain open and directed at the windscreen overnight. That's my guess as to the cause of the damp in the mornings. I presume it's the same control mechanism on your estate

Thanks for the response. That may well be the cause, I think I'll have to ask the garage when I take it in for it's service. May be better to direct fans away and turn on air re-circulation then to prevent it, think I might try it and see.

Also check the boot mat is not damp, and check for water under the spare tyre.

Was never a big issue on other cars but this ........................

If I remember I press the internal air circulation button and put a screen cover on when I'm leaving the car overnight outside and although I still get the condensation it doesn't seem as bad.

Defrosting.
If I've forgotten to put the screen cover on I scrape the heavy frost off the screen.
With the diesel the heater takes ages to warm up but what I do is start car and press internal circulation. 
Turn heat control up to max warm.
Press for air con button and close all doors.

Takes about 2 mins to defrost.

But...... I then have a problem with water inside!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem with my I30 and frost on the inside of the windscreen. Eventually I found I had a lot of water in the boot under the spare wheel (see thread marked "Boot Leak"). Anyway after all the rain in the UK this November it appears my rear light fitting wasn't fitted properly. After this was corrected and the boot dried out I haven't seen the problem.

Just been told by my wife that she finds it better to hit the demist button but turn A/C off. Also if you sit in the car it will not help as your breathing will steam up the screen, if you are in the car hold your breth
