Hi new here

just got my mum an MY18 I30 SR Premum two weeks ago, great car overall.  However, just wonder has anyone actually has their AEB & FCW comes on? i meant chime and warning icon on the LCD screen or brake at all?  i had a few close calls with nothing comes on.  my B9 A4 has the similar equipment and they sense the danger quite early.  Hope some one can share some experiences.

thanks

Hi and welcome.

My AEB has twice decided to bring me to a violent stop. Both times while travelling around 65mph on the motorway under Smart Cruise Control. Definitely not something I enjoyed.

As for FCW I have mine set to "EARLY" and it has alerted me to an imminent collision a few times, though I have always been in control so there was no real need for it to have done so. I notice that if you're braking it'll not activate at all.

Remember though that my car is an Ioniq so may be slightly different to yours.

thanks mate

maybe just because my foot was already on the brake pedal that deactivated the system then. just read few threads in US forum that their Sonata and Santafe has a faulty AEB and FCW system which have resulted few accidents without any intervention.

thanks

 :welcome:

It seems quite discreet, but i have had a couple of close shaves where people have turned in front of me at the last minute and I have felt it kicking in to slow me down. I drive a lot with the Autonomous cruise activated and tend to have my foot near the brake at all times just in case it doesn't. My previous car had FCW only and I used to get lots of false alarms. My SR seems a lot smarter in that regard.
