New Lithium battery

New battery is on it's way, thought I'd give one of the Lithiumax batteries a go :link: About | Lithiumax Batteries

They're on 17th generation now and suitable for daily drivers and not just race orientated anymore, the 650CA is only 2.9kg's (17kg's lighter than factory) with 3 second 900A pulse, probably could have got away with the 1.8kg 450CA but safer with a 650CA if I'm ever running accessories.

They're not cheap at $569 for the 650CA though a hell of a lot cheaper than the Antigravity batteries from the US I'd been looking into and Lithiumax are Australian at least, with a 10 year life span this battery will surely be coming with me if and when I change vehicles :)

Yeah the weight saving is a huge positive :snigger: obviously one of my reasons for acquiring a lithium battery in my weight quest :)

2 year wty on a $600 item which you hope lasts 10 years or purchase one with 3 year wty for less half.

I'm just amazed for the price they're not exactly backing it well if they're that good.

I guess the main cliental would be the racing industry so you wont get more than 2 year warranty, they've been around for quite some time and reviews are good.

Having only one i30 rather than 3 means I can afford to spend some money on it :D

Not true I can purchase 3 batteries to your one, I call that even and 3 people enjoy the i30 experience .. :groan:

I also have economies of scale for parts as they all fit, a garage full of every part you could imagine.

No warranty on my car anymore, though i do have a fair collection of i30 parts accumulating in the shed that I cant get rid of :rolleyes:


As long as I'm enjoying optimising the shit out my little toy I'll keep on doing so :) planning another holiday for sometime in the near future so I might have to start saving for that soon though :whistler:

Well, I can barely walk in it so not much work gets done, usually a swear pit. Can't find anything :crazy1:

My battery arrived  today :happydance: quite an easy install but had one small hiccup while installing it...I snapped one of the copper terminal posts :head_knock: I've fixed it with a 5mm bolt drilled through the post and screwed into the factory screw hole which will work fine until Lithiumax send me out another post.

According to Hyundai my vehicle is suppossed to have a minimum 480CCA battery, after removing it I discovered it was only 410CCA, cheap bastards  :disapp:

It’s only the service centre that cleans in there :) dirt doesn’t seem to get in the GD engine bays.

I am considering to buy this battery as well. Do you need an external charger for it?
I use it for daily, but occasional track day.

What is the cons can you think of? I don't want the batter to die while driving.

Could you please share your experience?

Lithium battery works just like a standard one and comes with a basic charger included.
If driving your car everyday the alternator will keep it charged, though if parked up for long periods of time you might want to consider a good maintenance charger like a CTEK XS Lithium maintenance charger.

The only con would be large power drains like huge stereo systems which would require going up to the largest 850 battery though the 650 like mine is fine for your average daily driver, dedicated track cars only need the smallest 450.

A safety point to remember is if you ever have to jumpstart a lithium you must remove the positive connection and connect to the lead...not the terminal or you’ll damage the battery.

Once the car is started remove the jump starter/leads then reconnect positive lead to terminal.
