Hey folks! New in town here!

I’ve recently just bought a 2015 model with a Steering wheel controls & single din head unit (pretty basic)

And I’m looking to upgrade my head unit from stock to an Apple CarPlay Alternative.

I’ve been looking to see if I can find a Hyundai specific one.. and I’ve seen a lot of defence to GD-03 head units.. but I can’t find any for sale here (UK)

I’ve found a viable head unit from Halfords (Retailer may vary)

https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=318420&productId=1438768&storeId=10001

As you can see it’s a double din with options for CarPlay

Other than buying the head unit.. what do I need?

If you could help me out with Links to products I need, I’d be grateful

If your car is the GD model - non sat nav then a GD-03 head unit should fit straight in.

GD-03 units were only released in Australia so you would have to acquire one from here as some other members have done, hopefully they notice this topic and can provide information on which Australian wreckers will post to international locations.

@aanastasiou4 was one of our members who ordered from Australia, maybe he could provide the seller details.

Thanks aanastasiou4, the website for those two sellers are as listed...

http://ultimatejap.com.au/

I personally bought mine through Stanvac though I'm unsure whether they do international postage :link: Stanvac Korean Auto Parts Adelaide

Another member also looking for a head unit has been quoted $550au = 312GBP to ship to the UK by Stanvac which I'd recommend as the preferred seller :goodjob2:

How would I know if my car is the GD version?

All I know is the model “I30 1.6 CRDi Blue Drive SE 5dr 2015”

I’ve been speaking to some other auto dealers about aftermarket head units and they always ask if I’ve got a manufacture fitted Amp?

Sorry for all questions... new to all this!

GD models are 2012 to 2017.

No external amp is installed, just the amp that's built into the head unit which is the same as the GD-03 units 4 x 45w

Thanks for your response.

I’ve enquired to one of the eBay shops above and should hear back soon!

Would you recommend any other easy/simple upgrades to the sound system :)

I'd ask Stanvac first if were me, they at least don't cut the USB cable in half like the other sellers.

It's up to you what other sound upgrades you would like, you'll automatically get better sound with the GD-03 unit over the standard unit anyway.

I was ok with my standard speakers though I decided on upgrading to a Morel high efficiency setup which was enough for me, others have gone with bigger speakers again requiring amps so the skies the limit with what you'd like personally :)

The one from StanVac sold hopefully another one pops up soon!

Why would people recommend a GD03 over a aftermarket?

Simplicity of installation as it's a direct fit.
