As a kayaker I always use bow and stern tie downs.  On my Elantra Touring, there's a nifty ring underneath in the front but no place in the back of the car to run a line to.  I ended up tying to roof rails but it's not ideal.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help,

Lyn

Lyn on the rear there is a plastic cap in the bumper bar that when you remove it you can screw the tow hook that's stored in the spare wheel area.  i hope that works.

Indeed, the tow loop when screwed in works great as a tie-down. Just make sure you push the painted cap inside the bumper before screwing in, so it doesn't blow about.

I drove 400 miles a few weeks ago with one side of my (3 bike) mount tied to it.

You can tighten it using the wheel spanner.
