Hello!
I heard someone saying it's possible to fit a 6-gear gearbox from some other petrol Hyundai onto a petrol FD?

Does anyone know is it possible? And if it is, what are the car performances after the change?

It's possible a 6spd manual out of a 1.4 GD or PD could fit if the boxes are similar length :undecided: if they came with a 6spd manual :undecided:

Hm I don't think the 6-spead gearbox came from i30 but from some other Hyundai car :/
I 've never had the chance to compare the FD with the newer i30s, but the newer seem to me like they're different beasts than the FD.

Looking though European Hyundai websites shows the 1.4ltr PD i30's have a manual 6spd option, look for one in a wreckers and take some measurements :fingers:

Also shooting from the hip,  having never done this. But is the  FD 1.4L and 1.6L motor the same block.?
I.6 L and GD  box would probably match up  :undecided:

The other thing to consider, Ive found Euro models with smaller motors can have low final/diff ratio. Therefore, they are fast off the mark but scream on the highway.

If using a 6 speed sourced here  from a large motor the diff ratio will probably kill performance

How about dropping a 2.0l into it with a cam & intake /exhaust mods.
Am sure you could still keep the LPG as well.

Don't think they sold a 2.0 petrol FD in Europe... So 2nd hand ones might be like Hen's teeth!  :D

They had 2.0 FD in EU, but I've yet to see one. Let alone drive it! :D

Could it be the 6-speed gearbox from 1.6 Elantra (MD) would fit the FD?

According to the info here :link: Hyundai KIA 1.4L Engine (Gamma G4FA) specs, problems, reliability, oil, Rio, Ceed, i20 they are the same block, so potentially a box from a 1.4/1.6 GD or PD will fit :undecided:

Maybe not the PD 1.4 turbo, Kappa engines are different :link: Hyundai KIA 1.4 T-GDi Engine (Kappa G4LD) specs, problems, reliability, oil, i30, Ceed, Elantra
