My left rear door actuator has gone and I need to swap it out.

I've got my head around the process but I'm stuck, as is so often the case, on one damn screw!

After taking the door card off, I have to wind the window part way down and remove a PH2 screw visible through a hole in the metal panel.

I jus t don't seem to be able to get the leverage on the screw to get it going. I've already part- rounded off the screw head and I don't want to risk making it worse if I'm missing something daft.

Has anyone got any tips for tackling this one? Everything looks in good condition, no obvious corrosion or damage.

Can you post a photo?  Sometimes you may be able to reach inside with locking pliers.  If we see the issue, a visual reference could help

Impact screwdriver has saved me many times. Could that be used in your situation?

A squirt of penetrating oil, use a new screwdriver bit which is a tight fit in the screw head. Is it in a position where you can get mole grips or pliers in around the side to grip the screw head? If all else fails you may have to drill out the screw and replace it, having first cleaned out the hole with a tap. Hopefully there are other screws which are the same so you can identify the thread size, bearing in mind a lot of screws in cars have fine-pitch metric threads.

I have a DeWalt impact driver - very happy with it.

I find that if you use it to remove a really tight screw which has a philips or pozidrive cross head - especially if it is somewhat damaged - you need to press down with a lot of pressure to stop it camming out and thereby make matters worse.
