I went out early this morning in the heavy rain and filled the car with petrol ready for our Wales Holiday starting Sunday.

I then went on to the tyre depot which fitted the car with 4 new tyres a few months ago - to get one of the front tyres repaied because it had a slow puncture.

The tyre fitter showed me the problem - one he had not seen before - there were three leaks high up on the tyre wall caused by thorns. He was used to seeing nails, screws and sometimes glass, but not thorns. The postion of the leaks in the tyre wall made a safe repair too dodgy and I had to buy a new tyre.

Yet another problem that my wallet has been hit with this week

I blamed Libby. Not only did she take hedgerows, she took 'a fence'

In Australia we have echidnas. Covered in protective spines which they shoot out to protect themselves.
If you are unlucky enough to run over one (unlucky for the echidna too),  the spines will penetrate the steel belts.
Definitely a throwaway.
Many years ago a mate brought in a tyre for me to repair after an altercation with an echidna.
19 holes.
New tyre buddy

I had an altercation with one of your bloody Pommie hedgerows once.
Doing a three point turn and nosed into the shrubbery.
The soft new growth was hiding a very solid network of branches over an inch thick.
Broke all the bumper mounting points on one side of the car.
Hire car.  :crazy1:

Careful application of some Araldite got the bumper back in place before handing it back.  :goodjob:

Often wondered what happened when it finally broke loose again.
Some poor renter going,  "Honest. It just fell off while I was driving".
