So after having my car for nearly 9 months I’ve found out that it has an alarm and immobiliser. But I didn’t know if it worked.I then remembered a post I read on here. About how to test it. So i did what it said.
I sat in the car locked the doors
Opened the bonnet
Nothing.
So I jumped out.
Locked the car with the bonnet open I pushed the bonnet switch down the lights flashed held my finger on the switch thenI removed my finger And the alarm went off. However I tied it again and again and it wasn’t working.
So then I tried the other method.
Shut all doors boot and bonnet lock/arm the car with the key fob.
Wait 30 secs
Open door using the key.
Guess what the alarm went off.
I was well impressed lol.

Yeah, it takes 30 seconds or so to fully arm.

Mine has a red flashing light on the top middle of the dash upto the windscreen when alarm active and is visable from outside.

Ok cool thanks both. I haven’t seen a red light. The only thing on top of the dash near the windscreen behind the blank panel is a black plastic dome. Not sure what that is.

The little black dome near the windscreen is the temperature sensor for your climate control.

That is where my flashing red light is.

Different models have different configurations.
My dome is purely a climate control sensor despite having a fully functional security system.
Other models use the same location to add a security status indicator.
