Hi all.

The boot of my 2016 i40 does not close properly unless I slam it really hard. There doesn't seem to be anything blocking the latch. Any ideas?

Also, when I push the "open boot" button, it only pops to unlock, it does not open all the way. Are the two issues related?

Thanks.

Hi, Jenson.

To my thinking, the main thing that may make the two behaviours related is some misalignment of the locking hook with the mechanism. Check for freedom of movement at the closing point, but also check the health of your hinges and whether your struts are sticking.

I associate myself with the comments from Gonz, I had something similar with my 2010 i30.  The problem identified itself when it flattened my battery because the boot had not closed completely thereby keeping the boot light on.  Some minor adjustments and problem solved  :goodjob:
