Hey

I'm looking to install a new exhaust system on my white i30 sport. (1.6 CRDi-16v - 90hp)
Important to me is a good sound.

I've emailed KoreanCarStyling.co.uk asking if they have some sound-videos of their Jun B.L exhaust for the i30 or if they recommend me another exhaust system, but much to my dislike.. looks like they haven't bothered to email me back.

Does anyone know any videos of a Jun B.L exhaust, on an i30 ? or does anyone suggest a different exhaust system that would sound great ?

Thanks in advance :)
- Oli

tomorrow when in not so "under the influence" ill post a vid of my white i30 with the exhaust disconnected at the rear muffler... its kinda cool but not if you get what i mean....

in the mean time take the intake snorkel off and it will sound tougher, its 2 M6 bolts then pull off the air filter box

Hey,

It has been a while since i last been active on here.
Sorry for bringing up this old topic again but i found this youtube video of a diesel i30 custom exhaust which sounds .. very interesting ..
But as said, i think its a custom made one and not one he could have bought somewhere, but i would love to be able to make my i30 sound like this:

Oh my bad, sorry, and it does sound good doesn't it ? I'm wondering if I could get my 1.6 CRDI to sound somewhat similar to that by using some exhaust system you can buy ? ('Cause i'm really not the type of person who can make it myself :P )

No need to waste your money buying something pre-fabbed - it's a VERY simple job for ANY exhaust shop. I made mine in under 2 hours - 2.5" from the DPF back, mandrel-bent, no mufflers (although a +14" resonator down the centre would be a brilliant idea as it's a tad noisy).  It's not very loud still (in fact you can run it with no exhaust from the DPF back and it will still be WAY under legal noise limits) and sounds as good as a 1.6L turbo diesel will sound.
If you go into an exhaust shop and they quote you more than $500 for that or something similar, then walk out and go elsewhere.

That's mine, although the video isn't a very good representation of what it actually sounds like.

Could you demonstrate again from about 3 metres away. It sounded like an F18 I'm afraid, way too close.  :(

We got a good picture of the whole exhaust when the camera fell over, or is that what you planned all along   :goodjob2:

If you watch my in car videos from lakeside itll give you some idea of the sound of it from the inside, I have a 2 1/2 inch catback exhaust with one hi flow muffler on it, it does need at least one as the sound it makes is nice but would drive you round the bend if you ever have to do any 100km/h driving in it

Mine cost me $190 fitted from an exhaust shop

That's cheap (mine was $280 I think)

I may well be considered an old fogey - but I fail to see the point of making an exhaust so loud it is a public nuisance in order to try and give the impression that you have a high performance sports car. Get real - even an old fogey like me can see that all you have is a Hyundai i30 dressed up in wolfs clothing but still a nice comfortable and reliable sheep at heart.

It's even more daft when you install several hundred watts of speakers playing boom boom bass so-called music with your windows wide open to try and drown the sound of the exhaust.

For me real fun would be to get the engine highly tuned with extra silencing and a low ratio final drive in a standard body - full stealth mode - to really surprise the hot hatch boys with a demo of what a proper performance car is like - but without all the unecessary noise.

Grump over - I will go back to my kennel.

Very true Alan although an i30 with this mod is not THAT noisy...

I like the concept of a "Q" car too  :goodjob:
