In a separate move, Hyundai has built its own eight-speed automatic transmission, which will be fitted to its luxury Genesis and Equus models next year

But not for RHD models :-\

This would turn the auto i30 into a really great car.  I have the 4 speed auto with diesel, because of the diesel engines great torque, it can get away with a four speed box, I'm pretty sure the petrol auto would be ordinary in comparison, but to fair I havn't driven one. It seems that this would be a logical step and would start to put real pressure on some of the highly regarded europeans like the VW Golf.
