Hi guys, I am new to this forum and found it a fountain of information and thought that I would join to add my two cents worth and also get some feedback for some questions I have running around in the old brainbox.
I am in Sydney and have a white I30 SX about 3 years old (it looks like the brochure so no pics are relevant) that has about 30k on the clock. Average economy on a run is 6.1l/100ks (sitting on near legal speeds) and around the city 8.5l/100ks or better depending on the traffic.
Knowing what I know now I would have ordered the next model up and the wagon if it had been available to get a few features (wheels and cruise c and extra space). Have had a variety of vehicles over the years VW's, Corollas, Celicas, Torana V8, Falcon, various motor bikes and now the I30 (which is my first diesel). I like the car but can always find a few little things I would like to improve. Have read the threads concerning the "chip" changes and am interested in this ( i like the power) and will look at info on this as I become familiar with the site(gone are the days of pulling engines down and porting and polishing and changing cams). I also find standard tyres very noisy and I am partially deaf so they must be noisy on certain road surfaces. I like the idea of a small spoiler if it changes the wind stream laminar flow and keeps the back of the car cleaner, have we got any contacts for these?

Well guys keep up the good work and I hope to contact some of you in the future for some good ideas. (NB you are never too old to learn or at least I like to think so).

regards Olddude

Welcome olddude ... We have quite a few older members so you mightn't be the oldest (we might have to have a poll to guess your age  :winker:)

I was surprised when you said you had a diesel (must be an auto with those figures)

Hope we can be of help (I'm sure we can)  :goodjob:

Dazzler,
Yep you got it in one an auto it is. I find that I have lost the need to swap cogs in the city traffic these days.

Welcome  from one "older dude" to another.....seems that we all appreciate the info tips and general mate-ship that flows through the forum.

I am with you on the "spoiler or wind deflector.... the dust sure does gather on the back of the i30's, especially the CW's. We have a dirt access road to home and so one is conscious of it all the time.
I will be travelling to Taiwan and HK soon, so will be on the look out for a source of quality accessories and will include the "spoiler" on the list, maybe there is something that can be "adapted" from another hatch type vehicle  ... :-\

Meanwhile....   enjoy  ........ :welcome:

You wont find it easy to adapt from any other vehicle, and it'll look bad!

There used to be a seller in .au on ebay that used to sell proper factory spoilers at a good price, not sure if they still do, I'm sure the regulars down there will know.
