Hi all,

I'm about to pick up my i30 1.6 CRDi (MY11) on Friday and can't wait.  It's a Continetal Silver SLX with a five speed manual.  I'll be trading in the Helden Common door (I'll miss the V8, but not the fuel usage, nor the lack of reliability).  I've had a Santa Fe previously, and always wanted to go back to the Hyundai.  In the three years that we had the Santa Fe it never missed a beat (unlike the Common door).  We wanted to get something smaller, and the Getz was just a little too small.

Just keeping the car standard at this stage (apart from the window tint, mud guards, floor mats and weather shields).  I'll be using it as my daily drive to work, and general running about.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

There is a heap of useful information on this forum (some really good discussions on hypermiling).  Just wondering, and hopefully some will be able to help me out, when I pick up the car are there any major do's and don't for the CRDi (I already have a TD 4x4, so I am aware of the glow plug)?  I also understand that there isn't a "running in" requirement as such, but the engine will need to be "bedded in" (run between 2000 and 4000 rpm, no rapid acceleration, no "loading" the engine, etc.)  Any other points I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance,

FatBoy (Slim)

Hi Slim.

You're better off asking this in the other discussion areas as not a lot of members visit the intro/welcome sections :)

Welcome, FatBoy.... :goodjob:
I'd be inclined to not rev it much past 3000rpm for at least a couple of thousand K....You'll find keeping under 3000rpm is quite simple as max torque is produced between roughly 1900 & 2800rpm. Oh, and don't lug the engine, especially in top gear....Cheers
