Hi guys, first thanks for a great forum! I'm a new owner of an i30 crdi and I'm really enjoying the wealth of information here.

I'm very tempted to buy one of the chinese in dash navigation units. I've been looking specifically at this one (a RoadRover C4301HI) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hyundai-i30-DVD-GPS-Bluetooth-USB-SD as it doesn't require a new facia and maintains the look of the original radio. I already have a portable WinCE based navigation unit with igo8 software so I know that part of the software and actually find it rather good. My concerns are about the radio and bluetooth part of the unit and the general responsiveness.

Has anyone tried this unit? I found thread on a Russian forum that seems to be about it http://club.hyundai-i30.ru/viewtopic.php?p=55551 but my russian is lacking a bit and computer translations doesn't help much :)

Any experience with other chinese in dash navigation systems will be appreciated also.

I have to say I've just had a long long look at that device, and I'm quite tempted myself. Not sure about the claim that 800*480 resolution is HD, but it sure looks crisp.

Certainly an impressive unit for the price (especially with OUR current exchange rates) around A$0.93 to the US$ last I heard....

In my old car (Kia Rio) i installed a chinese unit bought on ebay. It also looked very nice in the pictures, but the finish and funktions were very disapointing..

Besides that, the sound was very pour. Lots of background noise. I bought it due to its many functions, DVD playback, video input for reversing camera etc. But I only used it for about 1 month, then I went back to my old Pioneer unit.

Although this unit looks nice, I would like to se it and try it out IRL before buying it, and sadly thats a little difficult on ebay..

That said - It looks very cool. Wonder if it uses the USB, AUX and iPod in the armrest...?

It's certainly the time to buy things in US $$$ (if you live in OZ) cant see that exchange rate lasting over 90c for long (on past history)

This is real sexy. Wonder if it has a dimming feature for night? The only thing about the navigation part being in the radio, is that to look at it you have to take your eyes off the road more than if you have a windscreen mounted one. But I maintain..very sexy!

From the specs:
• Back Light Dimmer

So seems it does indeed support dimming.

Have had the eBay seller send me a copy of the manual for this unit. Will post it when I get home for those that might want a few more details. My only concern are things like the USB playback. The stock stereo handles this well but a yum cha unit like this vie had in another car wasn't so intuitive. Other than that, it looks pretty cool

Would love to see it. Should give a bit more insight in the workings of the system. I wonder if it'll retain function of the current usb and aux connectors for example.

Welcome to the club frabrizio...Did a quick google

http://fedomcn.en.made-in-china.com/product/ioXmNgyrrekc/China-Car-DVD-GPS-for-Hyundai-I30-C4301HI-.html

I would be very surprised if it supports the Temperature readout but has usb and ipod connectivity...

You would have to contact a seller to see if that function will be connectable to the USB in the console (should be) :goodjob:
