Our local police have reported that two recent house burlaries occured after the owners had their sat-navs stolen from their cars.

The cars were parked on a supermarket car park and the thieves stole the sat-navs from the cars and immediately used the "Home" setting to locate the owners house - anticipating that no-one would be at home.

The advice is to not use the "Home" setting on your sat-nav - but to set your house as a favourite under a coded name.

Damn those thieves.. I hate having to put it away all the time  :P
My car have fairly dark tinted windows and I sort of hide it when I am parking for any length of time with a sun shade on the windscreen...

If parking in a dodgy area at night I take it off though... :winker:

and will get rid of that home setting just in case..

Isn't paranoia great?

Where do you draw the line on these sorts of things?

Worrying that someone might steal your GPS and find your home....

What about if you get mugged and they steal your wallet with your licence etc, they now know where you live... :P

Guess you could always carry false I.D's and licences, the police might not appreciate that though..... :winker: :whistler:

How about Hyundai offer a built in GPS like the Ad that is blasted across our TV screens day and night, I know it is an overseas model shown- then make it available here, can't be that hard in 2011.

Personally, I'm pleased they don't have a GPS built in, who would wanna be stuck with the same unit for the life of the vehicle the way technology is constantly changing these days?
