I've had my i30 for nearly nine months now, and was a bit surprised by the lack of an intermittent setting on the rear wiper.

It was absolutely belting down here the other day, so I had the rear wiper on (I was sitting in traffic).  Imagine my surprise when I looked back to see the wiper operating intermittently.  I did a bit of testing, and once switched on, it does six wipes, then operates intermittently.

Who'd have thunk??

Now THAT'S interesting.

Trev prays for rain so he can test his rear wiper's intermittence.

Yap, does it 6 times and then every x? seconds. On my previous i30, it was 3 times and then every x? seconds ;) Interesting that they've changed that.

On mine it's 4 straight wipes then every 8.25 seconds, approximately.

Sometimes that 8.25 seconds just doesn't seem short enough, so I do the turn off/on to restart it.

If you were "sitting in traffic" though, the interval shouldn't matter too much I wouldn't have thought...

@sureferdude: you surprise me :eek:

Quite true. I rarely use it.
Even in heavy rain it's quite clear to see out of.
I might turn it on for one or two wipes to clear the glass if it's been parked outside and there's a frost on it.

Ahh Queensland.....

Beautiful one day, perfect the next. :P :happydance:

Funny thing is, that I do use it quite often, but because I thought that it was either on or off, I would turn it on for one sweep only when I needed it.

I have a CW with rear spoiler and find that we have to always use the rear wiper in any sort of rain as it appears to suck mist onto the rear window very easily.
The spoiler that is,  not the wiper... the wiper appears to be very efficient at removing said mist.

Yeah, the hatch spoilers change the air flow so that the mist collects on the rear screen also.

that's interesting to know. i would have thought the cw and hatch rear spoiler would help to reduce the spray on the rear window.

couldnt help myself,

for thread topid content, i find the rear window on my hatch collects no where near as much water/spray etc than my old wagon. and i rarely use the rear wiper.    and i didnt know it had an intermittant setting..  have to try it out.
