I guess most of you won't have a use for one of these but as I'm a surfer, I have for many years had a steel blank cut to just operate the doors which I can then take ot in the surf with me and leave the remote key hidden in the car.
Haven't been able to get one for the Hyundai until today.
I found a specialist transponder key locksmith who knew that a Toyota blank was suitable.
I have the blank number if anyone is interested.

That'd be fantastic mate, I go to the beach regularly (despite the "fantastic" Sydney winters). Have you tried it out on your car yet?

Oh yeah. Before I paid for it. Guy came out to my car with me and tried it himself.
No worries.
Not sure where you are in Sydney but Parramatta Locksmiths (at North Parra) were always able to help me in the past (worked in Sydney for 14 years).
The key has a number on it - "TOY40P"
If that doesn't help, let me know and I'll go ask the guy how to identify the blank. He's at Currimundi on the Sunshine Coast.

And SRT Metro, see how you go with the number above.
It is a Toyota key.
A bit more info. The first guy I went to identified a Toyota blank but was unwilling to try it because it didn't have the little bevels along the four outer edges of the key, like the i30 does.
It seems they don't have any effect - at least in the door lock.
BTW. I just tried it in the ignition. It will turn on the accessories (radio etc). Which my previous cars would do, also.
I wouldn't try to start the car as you can scramble the ECU. And it won't start anyway.

Thanks surferdude.

I live in Campbelltown (lovely place I tell you  ), and I work around the corner from Parramatta, down in Silverwater. So I might give them a try!

They're in Church St, just a couple of blocks up from where Pennant Hills Rd starts.

I was in the shower (cold water ) the other day after a surf, with my non-transponder key hanging around my neck and a guy in the next shower said, "Ah. You got one cut, too". Seems he's out of another i30 I see occasionaly and he had one too.
Except his came via Hyundai (who had told me they didn't have a blank to suit) and it cost him $130.
Makes my $50 all the better.
