.....  it says Jeremy Clarkson (spit on him) has threatened to leave is job as a TV clown pretending to be a motoring journo, if he has to move to Media City Salford.  I have resisted the urge to crack open the Bollinger and run up the street naked cheering, because I know what will happen.

I know what will happen because we've seen it all before, when Tony Blair came to power we had a stream of wealthy idiots making threats to leave the country, the didn't of course go, much as many of us would have liked them too.   Neither will Clarkson, why, cos he knows which side his breads buttered on, I mean who else would pay him fabulous wages to talk such utter crap.

I do live in hope that he goes, and that the prgram will start to tell us some useful stuff.  I watched some of it last evening and they accidently did a proper review of a Rang Rover Evoque, it was really intersting, except, it disolved into drivle for the hard of thinking at the end <sigh>

you have to see Top Gear in the light it truly is, those who dont like it complain there is not enough info in it,  thats because its not a informative program,  its, Comedy Entertainment around cars...  nothing more.   there is a good reason its the most popular show on TV worldwide.  a vast majority of the population dont care about cars and never will. they watch TV for it entertainment value.   I watch Top gear for a good laugh, Fifth gear and car and driver, for the technical aspects of car ownership and being a Driving entusiast (not a car enthusiast, there IS a difference)  ill drive any car as long as it drives well and i have fun.  Car enthusiasts will only follow One car brand usually, and we are in the Tv viewing minority, and hence, Jeremy Clarkson will still be on the box making people laugh.

Totally agree it's an entertainment show first, last and foremost.
I too, am a driving enthusiast and enjoy the show for that reason.
Last week I discoverd ny 60 y/o sister in law who has NO interest in cars and almost exclusively watches shows on SBS and the ABC, watches Top Gear religiously-and laughs herself silly.
Fifth Gear annoys me a bit because of that bloody woman who sounds like she's having an orgasm every time she gets behind the wheel.  And Tiff is just supercillious.

There you go, now fellas - let's "at it" :whistler:

An exellent demonstration of critical analysis unfortunalty there is no icon for a little gold star, but if there were I would give you a gold star for that piece of work, 10/10 well done...

I still hate it, I hate it, I hate it.........................  AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I guess I'm of the "old school" (late 1970's) Top Gear fans, where Quentin Wilson and Noel Edmonds showed the best and worst of everyman's cars of the day.

I do like a good laugh like the rest and must admit it was a bit of a letdown when Jezzer left in 1999 "to pursue other opportunities". I also admit his return, coupled with the addition of Captain Slow and Hammond, revitalised the show in the mid 2000's, but this new format where a guest can speak for 10 minutes about his/her latest album, then trash a Kia C'eed through Gambon, leaves me with some despair (although Sebastian Vettel was ok last week).

But seeing this thread is about Jezzer, I have to conclude by saying his piece in 2010 covering the Reliant Robin is possibly the funniest bit of TV I've ever seen.

^^^^ Yeah the Reliant Robin was one of his masterpieces. But for overall humour featuring all three of them the caravan holiday has to take the cake, particularly the bit where they tried to turn it around in a narrow lane. My sides were hurting. So predictable and obviously staged but just bloody hilarious.

I reckon it's real myself - not sounds like. :)

Didn't J Clarkson spent an entire series insulting the Welsh a few years ago. He has to have controversial ideas otherwise the Sunday Times wouldn't pay him a fortune for his columns. Have you ever read those.  :scared:

I usually watch Top Gear but don't consider it a proper motoring programme.

p.s. I wouldn't like to move to Salford either. :D

They make great reading on long distance plane flights - but people keep looking at you wondering why you're cacking yourself reading a book. :-[
