In the  1950's - 1960's larger cars had front bench type seats.

This meant that 2 large adults and a child could sit at the front

of the car, or even two smaller adults plus the driver.

Do you think this should be adopted into the newer models.

Baring in mind the safety aspect and an additional seat belt etc.?

Today some vans have the bench type seat in the front for 3 people.

Each have their own seat belt.

When I started driving my first car was a Vauxhall Victor?? with a bench seat, and column gear change and hand brake.

It was such an oldie that I only had it for 2 weeks as it used a pint of oil for ever 50 miles.

P/x'd for an Hillman Imp, rear engine/rear wheel drive, which I still believe was the best small car  ever built.  A lot better than a mini my dad had.

When I P/X'd I got more than I paid so was pleased with that little transaction.

The Fiat Multipla is the car for you - 3 seats up front and 3 in the rear. A veritable "Tardis" with huge interior space and exteria looks to die for.
Drop dead ugly.
