So it was an impulse buy, the car that is. I got $500 fuel card and an extra $2,500 on my trade in that i never would have gotten selling privately.

I also got Window tinting and an Xpack option.. which i really wasn't thinking about and it's an extra $1,990 + GST. Is that way too much?

Its the UV Sheild tint and an XPACK includes High gloss paint protection, Leather Preserver (which i wont need since i don't have leather) Carpet and Fabric Protector and Vinyl Conditioner all with lifetime warranties.

Do i need all this? And is this what i should be paying?

They only just called to say my finance had been approved and would let me know when they'd be able to order one in... is it to late to change my mind?

By the way, i'm in Australia, Melbourne. THANKS!@#

Maybe not what you want to hear, but it's way too much. Get the windows tinted privately after you've got the car and don't bother with the other stuff (it's rubbish) - just polish & wax as normal.

Is it too late to change your mind? Depends what you've signed mate - and how much you like to play brinkmanship games with car dealers.

Hi girmadness,

If you haven't paid a deposit I would threaten to pull the plug if the don't drop the x-pack offer, as i30manUK says it is a blatant ripoff.

Otherwise, you've made a great choice.. hope it all goes well...

Welcome to the club.. :D

Thanks guys! I did my research on everything else.. but then i read all the horrible storys about the after sale ladies (mostly with their rack out) taking more money for protection thats not needed. I contacted the dealer and she seemed to think it'd be fine to take it off since my finance was only approved today. I havent signed anything in the way of finance repayments, so it should be cool. Yay.

Will get my windows tinted after i pick it up. Any reccommendations as to where?

I CANT WAIT TO GET MY NEW CAR!  :D

Hi again..

I used extreme window tinting down here in Tasmania (think they are national)

Several of us have used the Black Azz film at maximum level (35% in Tas)

Should be around $300 or maybe $320 tops (think Bob or someone only paid $280)

Rgds,

Dazz

My dealer charged $238 inc GST for tint.  Thats after I got a $3100 discount off the price!  I'm not sure of the brand of tint, but our Tucson was bought from the same dealer and the tint is nice and dark and is a really good fitting job, so i'm happy.  Just have to wait and see what comes on the i30 when it arrives.  Towbar was my only other option - $436  Incidentally the dealer I have bought all our Hyundai's from is John Hughes in Victoria Park.  They have been the largest selling Hyundai dealer on the planet for quite a few years, so I guess they might have some pull with the factory in regard to pricing and supply.

Gee their pricing is keen .. I got the Tow bar thrown in but it wouldn't have been much of a deal otherwise...Think the local dealer values the tint at $495 I got that thrown in on the Tiida... 8-)

I dont think JH has been the biggest dealer for a few years now, was in the late '90s i first heard about it on an advert.  Perth has traditionally had a good following on Hyundai cars, maybe it has something to do with  Allan Bond starting the hyundai importation in the '80s.  A friend I went to school with owned the first Excel bought into Australia by Allan Bond to use at car shows.  My friends dad was employed by Bondy and worked for the importation company, and once the model was established he got the car cheap, and let my mate drive it as a first car.  The guy drove it like a rally car.  Constantly changing at 7000rpm, fitted a downdraught Weber carby, extractors etc, handbrake turns everywhere, eventually after about a year of abuse the head gasket blew.  Then we were on a trip down to Margaret River, traveling at 110km/h on a single lane road (Caves Rd) the rear wheel bearing collapsed without warning, the whole rear hub including the wheel came off, sheering the brake line and sending us onto the wrong side of the road.  Luckily no-one was coming the other way!  That was my first introduction to Hyundais!
