Figured its about time I should post a few pictures and info on my 2nd baby :) (copied this off another forum, hopefully makes sense:)

1997 Eunos Roadster (Jap Import) aka Mazda MX-5

For a while I'd been pondering something fun to get, as a side project car to let me 'tinker' on and fiddle with at the weekends. I'd thought about many different cars, from a nissan sunny :/ civics, mk3 golf,v6 Galant, MX3, then started looking at convertibles.  :P

On a trip to Bangor (about 20 miles from home, 1st week of July 2011)one day seen a '97 silver Eunos Roadster for sale at the side of the road. After a brief test drive, and a great smile, it was bought a few days later, after convincing the father. (Not easy, but after he test drove it he was all for it)

It's a , 1.8, imported from Japan in 2004 to England, and owned by one lady owner, then was brought over here by the trader I bought it from. The general condition of it seemed 85% for the age of the car, a minor bit of damage on the p/s wing, sort of seen in pic (cracking isopon ive concluded with other opinions) Timing belt has been twice, and it had roughly about 110k miles. Not bad . Interior is like new, bar a tiny rip on the drivers bolster, (from somebody getting in and out, think its rather common). <Find it very economic if its driven easy, £15 done for a drive round the coast and home (approx 150 miles)

The initial idea of using it as a weekend car only, and keeping it original didnt last long, when I found out when painting the calipers that the driver front spring was cracked, and a bust passenger rear shock.

A bit of research into an OEM shock shocked me with the price (£120). Seeing that a coilover set up with 2 year guarantee was £470 from england delivered was a no-brainer, GAZ Gold Pro Coilies were bought, had to wait 4ish weeks as they came straight from factory (apparently).

A stainless steel exhaust was done by a friend, which resulted in a fleebay 4 branch being fitted at the saem time, reason being I couldnt get the pipe off the OEM manifold, due to a very awkward nut at the top, so the middle pipe and Mani got trailed through the engine bay :D

From the 4 branch back was changed recently with thanks to Street racer for the long life system. Made a super improvement in terms of throttle response and lovely note.

(Below)Car on the ramp at street racer. Also had purchased the clear side markers for front and rear bumpers, with integrated side lights. looks awesome :)
Also done the wheels one weekend i was bored in a yellow dish, grey center sort of thing, there getting done all grey to match the hard top that was acquired end of November at an irresistible price.

Got the front bumper smoothed off, as the plate holder absolutely sickened me. (only real grudge) and an offset reg bracket bought and fitted<i>

Future plans are new discs and pads, new wheels and a respray hopefully. Also keeping an eye out for a splitter, however my driveway is a tad steep and doesnt lend itself to lowered cars well

Absolutely love the car, an dont plan on getting rid of it in the foreseeable future.

Random pic with a mates L200. (Bought as seen, none of the work is his)

Most recently got a 2nd hand boot lid and decided to get arty.. or try to..

Hopefully getting a new set of wheels in the next week or two, before the show season starts, and a complete clean :)

thanks for your atentti......oo a butterfly

Its a pleasure to drive, as nice as the i30, which i love, even though a different ride and handling altogether, hard choice between the two of them

For the past 4 or so months ive been searching the net for a nice set of alloy wheels for the car, something different.
December seen Rota launch a new wheel, the RK-R, uses a different name in australia I believe, and other parts of the world.

its 15x8 with a ET0 (basically its wide, and will sit out past the arch a bit :D )

Hopefully with some arch/fender rolling and flaring they will fit a dream.

A collegue and friend of mine as bought one of these, it would seem to be a midlife crisis except he is well past midlife :-)....    Well we were both working in North Wales one day a few months back and he said, 'call at mine on the way and we'll travel together the rest  of the way'  Follishly I di this and we travelled in his LITTLE racing car.     When we arrived at the hospital and I had to exit the car there was an embarassing struggle then houres of back ache, needless to say this all had to be repeated on the homeword journey after which my i30 felt like a three seater sofa.

So as far as I am concerned you can have the little racing car and I hope ya enjoy it, but us fat lads will stay with Hy   HAhahahahahahahahahahahahhaaaa

Possibly one of the largest quotes ever :P

Well hope im not having a mid lift crisis.. im only 20

Dont think they were designed with the... better padded? members of our society.

maybe you should go in it once a month, just to help re-confirm your love for the i30? :P

Think you have to drive the mx5 to really love it though..

cheer tho :)

Got new discs and pads fitted all round at the weekend, and also done a test fit of the new wheels I have for it.

Car will be sitting lower down on the tyres, but getting the arches rolled first so as not to catch on the wheels :)
I know this may not be to everybody's taste, but sure :)

Cheers for being nosey :D

New wheels got fitted at the past weekend, and have to say im over the moon. on the way home from getting the arches rolled/flared, i stopped by a public car park were people meet up on a weekly basis for a few shots. Think this wall is used in a lot of shots, due to its grafitti :)

attended a local cruise on the sunday after fitting the wheels. Car had benefited from a polish all around. with Autoglym Super Resin.

Another car club photographer snapped this one.

Going to adjust the rear ride height upwards slightly, as there is still some scrubbing :(
apart from that im over the moon with the car.
