Just a couple of i30's with body protection mouldings for those considering that accessory..





Edit: I think they look good (particulary on the lighter colours) but sit a bit low to offer much protection (certainly not from 4WD or commercial vehicles)

I fitted some on mine a while ago, the sides seemed very vulnerable.



They are Rider mouldings which I got from Poland rather than the Hyundai ones, they stick out quite a bit further than the raised areas on the doors.

the moulding in the top pic is the australian fitted ones. ive seen them at my dealers.

Nice Picture thanks Diablo.. Problem is you see a lot of cars over here with parking "dimple" dents about half way up the door or higher over here which are made by the bottom corner of doors on higher 4WD and SUVs   (Not much you can do to stop that though)

I think I prefer your strips to the Hyundai one although it is a close call..

I've seen similar but in chrome on fleabay.....

They're a good idea but I think that as Dazz says the bigger vehicles will still cause issues.
I find parking at the top level of a carpark, or away from the favoured spots does the trick (still not guaranteed though).

There is a lot of luck involved .. one of our members decided he wouldn't use car parks a while back and someone clipped his bumper when they parallel parked in the street behind him....

There's not much you can do unless taping on bubble-wrap all over. Defensive parking has to be a good idea though. Park on the end of the line and reduce chances of a knock by 50%, park away from everyone else - though there will often be a 15 year old banger parked beside the car when you return. 

No sense getting paranoid though. I had my Laguna for 10 years from when it was two years old and it never picked up a single dint.

The main enemy was me, I scraped the side against my gatepost on the day I picked up the Laguna - oops !

I've got some clear door edge strip on the i30, bet you can't see it in the photo.

Some here might remember my boast that I've never parked side-by-side with anyone and only ever parallel parked. Well today, under extraordinary pressure from the xyl I relented (I'm still not sure why I caved) and parked in the Ikea car park. I did manage to find a pillar which gave some extra width on the other side.  "Please God!" was my plea...

Much sweating was endured as I imagined the worst happening to my still virginal doors, not to mention the CC damage as I agreed to everything suggested. "Yes, yes, ready to go?"

Anyway, God, with whom I formerly have had little contact came through, and the car survived with no damage. The CC not so lucky.

My paranoia though is still intact.

I know where you are coming from Pip.. I usually park at the end of a row where I can to reduce the risk by 50% but always do a lap of the car when I get back to it looking for tell-tale marks or scratches...

Not much you can do if it happens.. As Diablo said I have scratched more of my cars myself that ever damaged in car parks but I got a really bad one in my 1978 Renault .. someone virtually destroyed my passenger side door with their front bumper in a car park once...I remember the bomby white car being there but never tracked them down
