The i40 sedan is now on the Hyundai Australia website but the i30 isn't...

http://www.hyundai.com.au/vehicles/i40-sedan

And appears to be Elite & Premium only therefore no manual transmission.  :'(

That is interesting.
They now seem to have removed the i40 sedan from the website.
I wonder why.......

Don't worry Dave, my guess is they picked up some error and have retracted it pending some editing  :goodjob:

I hope that the error is a lack of 6 speed manual.
I have emailed two dealerships, one in the metro, one in the country, to ask if I can place an order for either a manual diesel Premium i30 or a manual diesel Premium i40 sedan (which don't exist in Australia. I said I'm prepared to wait for the car).
I reckon the answer will be no from both but it will be interesting.
Not like the old days when you could order whatever you wanted from The Big Three.
I am still in two minds whether to trade up or drive this one into the ground.
If I keep this one, I'll do some improvements.

I guess you will know the answer to that when you test drive a new one Dave..

At this stage from what is available I would be happy to option up a manual 140 Diesel Estate..

If I were in your position, considering the higher geared new Diesel i30 isn't as responsive in the higher gears I would be very tempted to keep what you have (taking into account that your i30 is special with the custom leather and sunroof and the fact that you would not recoup much, if any of that investment)

Thanks Dazz, you make a good point and it's not lost on me.
I guess it's just that either I change now, or I don't change, because no one's going to want an i30 with 200,000 kms under its belt.
But what you say makes sense and I am in two minds, as I said.
If I keep this one, I'm thinking that I'll take it to my new found trimmer (the Austin 1800 guru) and get him to rip the guts out of the interior and fully soundproof it & fit new carpet.

 :offtopic:

I removed the carpets from a Datsun 240K & replaced them with foam underlay & broadloom, loop pile carpet. The job went better than I expected and was lovely to ride in afterwards. Sound wasn't an issue with this car, but there are specific soundproofing materials available, so in an i30, that would be a good move, db08.

I had the 4 door sedan, beautifully comfortable seats, full instrumentation, oil, amps, temp, tacho all factory fitted and aimed at the driver. Ohc 2.4 six & that was the disappointment.. Regular, reliable just not as powerful as I would have liked. I kept the car for all the other reasons & liked it enough to do the carpet mods. Traded it in 1981 for a new VH Commodore SLX which left our house only 2 weeks ago.

I remember a road test in a magazine of a brown 240K and the colour photo was of the car and a girl riding a horse next to it, I think near the sea.
They always seemed to get good write-ups.

Yeah. Girls on horses near the sea usually get a warm welcome :winker:

I was thinking the same thing. If the car's that good, what's with the girl & horse.  :D

The answer was a predictable NO X 2.  :(

Maybe you should email Hyundai Australia and ask them why they don't offer the vehicles us customers want.... :)

Of course we all know what their answer will be.....

IIRC  the videos posted recently of Hy assembly line, I thought there was mention of the capability to assemble different models on the same line at the same time. If so, then different engine/trans combinations should also be possible.

I don't know - it was only up for a short time.
The main i40 part of the website was for the sedan, then there was an icon at the end to take you to the wagon.
And the wagon was in three models, the sedan in only two.
I guess someone must have jumped the gun.

I just received a call from the salesman I've been talking to and he said they have just received the info on the i40 sedan.
It is arriving on the next ship and will be released in the week of June 19th.
There IS an Active model and a manual diesel is available in Active spec only, in which case you miss out on the SatNav etc which will be included in Elite up.
Pricing for the manual diesel Active sedan is $32590 + on roads which, co-incidentally, is the same price as the auto only Premium i30.
