Hi everyone. I am excited to be picking up our new i30 CRDi SLX CW 2012 tomorrow. I have researched and wanted this car for nearly a year now and I have been waiting for the end of year sale. We got it for $7000 off the on-road price in the run out sale and some tough negotiating (tough for me anyway). it is the light silver paint with the optional rear spoiler.
And it's off to get the windows tinted on Saturday. So it will look pretty sharp once that is done!

I am also very happy to find such a good forum for the i30. I ride a motorbike and our bike forum is one of the best around so I can't believe my luck to find this one which seems to have great members, and fairly active posting. :goodjob:

I was wondering if there is a thread for mods that can or have been made to the i30. I know there is a wish list forum but I am interested in reviews of performance mods and other improvements.

Anyway, nice to meet you all.

BTW We are in Brisbane Australia ... I can't seem to find how to modify my avatar. Edit: never mind got it sorted.   :P

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Richard and welcome to the forum.  It certainly seems like a great place in the few days I have been here.

Welcome Richard..

Excellent Choice a Diesel CW is my favourite combination of engine and Body (have had a CRDi and a Petrol i30)

There is whole section on Modifications split 3 ways so if you browse through that you will find some interesting Mods  :goodjob:

Sleek silver. The was not a lot of color choice, being a run out sale, but I think the sleek silver looks good. I did lust after deep blue avilable in the new models, but you can't always have everything.

Cheers,
Richard

I like the Silver (I wanted that in our first i30 but I got over-ruled) the Dark Santorini blue was introduced very late in Series 1 but they were scarce....

... have you driven diesel cars before?

Only older non-turbo 4wd. I was very impressed with the i30 CRDi when I test drove it last year. I was expecting a very narrow power band and to quickly run out of puff on the high side of the power band. That didn't happen. It kept pulling harder than a petrol.

Cheers,
Richard

I do enjoy CC on the freeway, come to a hill and the petrol's invariably loose a few kmh, but not the diesel, just keeps on keeping on  :goodjob2:
