On Monday I had cause to travel down to Augusta (in our south-west) and stay overnight there, then the next morning back through Nannup, Bridgetown, Bunbury, Waroona and Pinjarra and then back to Perth.

Augusta is situated on the south-western tip of Western Australia and at the right time of the year is the best spot to be to watch the whales as they round Cape Leeuwin on their migration north.

April ran extremely well, averaged 4.7 l/100 kms on the way down there (it must have been down hill) and 5.0 overall, so happy with that.

The total trip was about 850 kms, so all done on one tank and plenty left over.  :D

During the trip the 135,000 km mark was reached and she's booked in for the 135,000 km service tomorrow.

One thing that was prominent though was the road noise which seemed even worse than I remembered it. But two things might have contributed to that. Firstly, the tyres are near the end of their serviceable life and secondly, a lot of the roads in the south-west have the coarse bitumen surface rather than the smooth bitumen that we get around Perth.

If I end up keeping the car though, I will be installing some additional sound-proffing but if I trade it, I'm sure the new GD will be improved in this regard.

Due to time constraints, I didn't stop in every town and take photos, but here are the few that I did take.

Great pics Dave. And a pretty decent surf at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.
"Twas flat the day we were there.

I washed it on the weekend before we went but it did get a little dirty in the rain.  :(
