My rear bumper has been damaged whilst parked.  Has anyone removed the bumper and can give any information about how to do it please?

It would be helpful if you would include your car model in your profile - similar to mine to the left of this post - so that members can target their replies..

It is held on by bolts which you get to from the underneath.
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

4Rs

Remove, repair, respray and replace.  My son has a contract bodyshop connected with his job.  I get trade price  ;)

I've only got a £50 excess and protected NCD but  a premium increase is a likely result of a claim and declaring it for the next five years does not appeal.

Is there any difference in the i30 bumper mounts over the production run so far?

I normally quote relevant information with an enquiry but considered it was not required this time.

There is like a wind defector plastic trim that attaches to the bumper from underneath, has about 15  screws to remove. then you just have to look for the the bolts that hold it on all way around, but its all bolt on as its plastic. the CW could be different but not much and the rear is plastic. if its just a minor scrape thats all you need to do. if it was hit harder. when that is removed you will see the body structure, thats all welded so lot more work.

Thank you.

Bodyshop had no problems removing bumper.

Repair and respray are perfect and not detectable.
£70 for the whole job including paint and a 250ml can of left over for touch up.

Well let me put it this way.......

Thousands of vehicles arrive in the U.K. from abroad every day.  Inevitably, some of those vehicles get a ding or two on board the car carriers or in the storage compounds and someone has to repair them so the dealer/customer doesn't realise it.

This guy's company does that!
