8:49 this morning my son rings me up at home and says the handle on the drivers door has broken off and do I have a spare key.
Why I ask........
I'm in my works car park the doors/hatch are ALL locked, key in the ignition and engine running and radio blasting out.
When I sold him the car I gave him the 2 flip keys but kept the Master key, good job you say.
(son bought my old i30 in May when I bought my new i30 and as the warranty had expired in September so was expecting ££££ job)
Got down to his works car park, only 15 minutes away, and unlocked the doors and got into the car via the front passenger door.
Rather than phone the dealer I decided to call on my way home to ask about a new handle as I was expecting them to have to order one and then book it in as I was expecting them to have to take the inside of the door out to replace.
Left him my car and took his and off I went.
At the dealers explained the problem.
The techie rumaged in a box and brought out a black handle.
Went out to the car and fitted the new handle in 5 minutes...... What service.....
Just for info - You have to take out the lock barrel before you can slot the new handle in.
To remove the barrel lock you will see on the side of the door aligned with the lock a big rubber bung.
Prise out the bung and it exposes a bolt which you take out.
The barrel will come out thro' the front of the door.
The handle slots into place.
Replace the barrel, bolt and rubber bung and all done.
Left dealers and was back home by 10:00.
Great service and full marks to the dealership...................................
