You've only got to look at what he did with the Kia Optima - it's a nice looking car that turns heads and reminiscent of his work at Audi.

Here is some of Peter Schreyer's work with Kia.

I have to say that whenever I see one on the road I take a second look. It's basically the same car as the Hyundai i45 but the exterior looks better IMO, some colours more than others.

Not as keen on the interior design though.

Well, VW isn't really famous for having inspired designs, so the fact that he was design chief at VW isn't that much of a welcome qualification

But he seems to have done some nice things at KIA

The chief designers job is to take the required specification from the marketing people and then integrate the ideas presented by the styling, engineering, production and financial departments to present concept vehicle designs. It then becomes his responsibility to oversee the final design and get it into production.

Are you mixing styling with design?. His main work was at Audi and under his hand they have produced a stream of excellent and very successful vehicles.  I would consider that they have indeed produced some inspired designs - even though the styling has never been cutting edge and in some eyes bland.

Whether this new bloke has any styling influence or not I'm unlikely to buy another Hy until they tone down the over-the-top (to me) styling. On the other hand I do like the more understated styling of VW, Audi and current Kia.
