Hi All

I took delivery of a new (and my first) i30 Active last Monday. So far it's been great but I am having some problems when connecting an iPhone 5 with iOS7 to the head unit. I'm using an official Apple USB cable and it's advertised as having iPod connectivity, but I'm thinking that maybe the recent iOS7 update has caused a few issues (I never had the chance to try iOS6 on it).

1. After a couple of tracks the album picture stops updating (or updates sporadically)
2. Sometimes for the track name I get "No Title"
3. Usually after about 10 minutes the playlist stops working and it begins playing the same track over and over, even if you press skip.

These problems are usually rectified by unplugging and replugging in the cable, or if I wake and unlock the device itself and skip the track on there.

I think it may be something to do with the phone going to sleep or when it is locked but I can't consistently replicate the problems (but there seems to be one or a combination of them everytime I try to use it.)

It's not the end of the world as I can still use bluetooth audio (but then I lose the track info and album pictures), but it would be interesting to see if any other iPhone owners who have upgraded to iOS7 are having similar issues, or whether it's just me / my car!

I'm planning on speaking to the service guys about it when I take it in for it's one month service so will let you know what comes out of that if I can't resolve it.

Welcome Kingdog.

I doubt the service crew will be much help unfortunately (so hopefully someone on here can help)

Glad to hear you are generally pleased with the car  :happydance:

I haven't got the latest I30,but mine plays the audio off my phone automatically if I select AUX(because I have a USB plugged in all the time) without using the cable, does it through bluetooth.

It would not surprise me in the least that they have not done the Pre-delivery thouroughly and your system needs updates

Welcome, Kingdog. I think the problem will lie with the phone. Can you try an OS6 phone and see what happens?

I use the bluetooth connection. Hit the media button and off you go.

G'day mate,

Is the cable genuine? I believe Apple put something into the I07 update to sabotage non genuine cables....http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2158502  has a fair bit of info.

Thanks for the responses.

The bluetooth connection is fine as a backup for now, but it would be nice to have the full functionality of the iPod connection which includes displaying tracknames, artist names, album titles and album picture on the touchscreen. You can also look through playlists, artists etc without having to pick up the phone.

With the bluetooth you just get play, pause and skip buttons, with (I think) a time elapsed on the song but no other track info.

Ugly Mongrel - I don't have an iOS6 phone to try out unfortunately but will try and track down someone who hasn't upgraded yet!

Beerman - The cable is genuine - I specifically went out and bought a genuine one from JB Hi Fi afte reading about iOS7 / non genuine cables.

I will bring it up with the service people but not expecting them to be able to do much, but it would be good to at least get confirmation that there are issues with iOS7 and it's not just me.

It's for my passengers viewing pleasure, not mine - It's just sort of embarrassing showing off my new car to friends and the entertainment system being glitchy!  Anyways, looks like it's going to be a firmware upgrade issue. Plugged in an old 3GS with iOS 5 and it worked fine.
