Hey guys, heres a copy of an email i just wrote to hyundai cust care. hopefully they can do a firmware update for this? i would love to see both features in the car and cant see why not

Suggestions:
While using my iPod there is no "search" feature like on the iPod itself, where I can start to type in a work and it brings up all matching songs with the containing characters (using the song select nob to browse letters and pressing it in to submit that letter choice).
Secondly, on the LCD panel in the dash between the tacho & speedo above the odo & trip meter is the picture of the car with the specific doors that are open when doors are open. However, when driving around this (quite a large) area is not displaying anything. It would be nice to see this display my current speed in digital format only while moving.

I would like to have an 'instant' fuel usage shown in the display. (I know there is an average)

Every other vehicle I have owned with a trip computer shows both average AND instant fuel used.

Also, I would like cruise control on my SLX diesel manual.  8-)

Other issues, proper indexing of the USB storage device. (Folder view would be nice)

Better high beam!

Options that are available everywhere else in the world, be available in Australia (Like Bluetooth hands free, self dimming rear mirror, Leather heated seats, folding door mirrors, sun roof, full body kit, proper mag wheels, 6 speed gearbox))

I agree with thumper,
The trip computer on the i30 could be improved. Different cars i have owned have displayed instant fuel econ as well as time traveled.
full leather seats would be nice too.

received a reply, wasnt expecting anything but at least its been passed on, maybe i should find someone with a cable and the software to reprogram it myself... would be interesting to say the least :)

also, i made a note of CC because i wanted CC in the stearing wheel so it looks factory, even if not. ill have to chase it up later

email response:

Hyundai Motor Company Australia appreciates the time and effort you have
taken to notify us of the concerns you have raised in your correspondence.
The feedback that we receive from our customers is valuable to us for many
reasons. It provides us with market research on how we can improve our
product range and our image. Also informs of what types of equipment
upgrades that we should consider in the future, when we are looking to
release new models.

Your comments on the i30 stereo/speaker system and characteristics have
been duly noted and passed onto Research and Development Department, here
in Australia and Korea.

The factory cruise control which will be available later this year can only
be installed into vehicles while in production in the factory. It will not
be possible to have this installed into your vehicle. You can have an
aftermarket unit installed. Your local dealer would be able to assist you
with this.

Kind Regards

This idea would be very welcome as I have been through both the Hume & Calder highway speed checks in the past week, and both times the speedo was out by 5 or 6km/h (below)

Mine reads 7km/h slower, according to three different GPS units. (107km/h on the speedo is actually 100km/h via GPS)

Ash,

I have read somewhere that a unit can be plugged in to the diagnostic port on most cars and these give very accurate readings, despite the speedo being under by as much as 10%.  I have also read that it is possible for the speedo to be recalibrated to be more accurate, but manufactureres tend to go under by up to 10%, as laws state that a speedo on a vehicle can be under by up to 10% of the actual speed (but never over).

Thumper, that may explain your great results in your acceleration tests you did the other day.

Just on this speedo discussion.
I have a Ford Terriitory and have had the dash enabled to the same as the Police cars.
This shows on the digital read out the actual speed. This is always 3km/h less than the speedo.

So in fact what happens is that the car knows what speed you are actualy doing (aka the same as what the GPS tell you) but the speedo dial is set to show 3km more..
