With Ford's proposed shutdown in Oz, one would assume the Falcon's days are numbered in V8 Supercars although we can hope they continue with another model.

But, it seems Chrysler is about to jump in.

There's also rumours of one more in the wings.

Sounds kinda retro. Maybe Leyland will pitch in with a resurrected P76.  :whistler:

I'm guessing the 300C body shape would suit the COTF frame.

Would be an interesting choice by Chrysler given their small market here.

I would think Ford will keep the Falcon/Taurus/Mondeo  in the V8s, they will be looking for acceptance of the new model plus the wider promotional opportunities it provides (if Nissan and Mercedes think its a good idea it must have some merit for Ford).

Doubt it. They have nothing to prove.
Not after winning the Targa Florio section of the World Cup Rally in 1974.

The "Targa Florio" was actually a option pack on the P76 "Super". This model was created in mid 1974 to commemorate the stage win of a nearly standard P76 in the 1974 world cup rally . Driven by legendary Australian rally driver Evan Green, the speed and ability of this 4 speed manual - V8 P76 surprised the worlds best in the "Targa Florio" stage in Sicily (Italy) .

It seems Gary Rogers Motorsport will go with Volvo next year now. Chrysler is more interested in its domestic market but have looked more favourably on the proposal since the V8 Supercars great reception last month in Texas.
