Fathers, sons and brothers, together they fought and died,
That we may live in peace together, while at home their mothers cried.
When that final bugle calls them to cross that great divide,
Those comrades will be waiting when they reach the other side.

Thanks Rusty,I am just disgusted in the Australian public in general, the lack of understanding and respect for those who fought and died so we can have what we have today, both young Australians and Immigrants alike who have chosen Australia as their home  :disapp: I just shook my head, like everyone I still have to work to make a crust, but I still observe the minutes silence.

Rick, I don't know about WA, but my wife and her sister were in the second largest shopping centre on th eSunshine Coast today at 11am.
Centre Management used the pa system to advise and then observe the minute's silence and almost every one in the place stopped what they werre doing and stood still.

My one minute's silence was inflight - the Captain led the process over the intercom. :victory:

I saw an RSL official on the news last night saying they were chuffed at the increasing turnout each year, including large numbers of young people.
If the RSL is happy, I'm happy.

It would be interesting to see how that trend goes after we're 'officially' withdrawn from AFG.
As a vet, I for one am looking for the next conflict. Long story, counselling probably required.

must be a different attitude on the East coast then, because I know where I was, best majority of ommigrant workers,I was asked after I observed the minutes silence what was I doing(as under OHS,it stopped them from unloading my vehicle)when I eplained to them what day it was all I got was why should I do that,or Oh! thats a waste of time,on talking to many people at work,as now I had a bee in my bonnet, not one of them observed the minutes silence, from the many PPL I spoke to later in the afternoon,I couldn't find much evidence that Remeberence day was observed by many at all, except those orginisations which would naturally observe the day.

Maybe WA is just a pack of ungrateful P#@ks

I admire all the people from the Commonwealth who fought in the 2nd World War.

I wasn't around at the time but I can see how Brits would think it was a good idea to defend this little island. But Aussies, Indians and Canadians gave lots of support, without much real threat to their own countries.

Australians fought with the Allies from very soon after Germany declared war on England, long before Japan entered the war and were a possible threat to them. So I take my hat off to them.
