6 hours in the car to Hobart & return today, drizzle all the way and guess what ?  The auto windscreen wiper feature doesn't work, so no intermittent function at all.  Man, was my left finger tired of flicking up the stalk after 6 hours of driving.  Anyone aware of this as an issue ?  The car goes in for the 1500 Km check in early January, I guess it will be addressed then.  5.5L/100 at the legal speed limit with only 1000 Kms on the engine, nice.

That's a bit of a pain! Nothing was blocking the sensor, like a GPS or crash cam?  You haven't had foot well lighting installed? Another member had their wipers upset by the wiring for the foot well lighting. Hope they sort it easily for you.

Was the wiper switch set to Auto

On my active you flick the stalk up one notch.

You can then set the wipe frequency by turning the knob on the stalk to every few seconds to longer.

It then wipes depending on the setting.

My Automwipe function needed the wiper stalk to be fully up.

I'm pretty sure it was vibration operated so fine mist might not activate it, although I wouldn't swear by that. Mine had intermittent AND Auto as separate and individual functions, not linked in any way so if Auto failed I'd still have intermittent and vice versa.

I tried the stalk in every conceiveable position, no joy.  I also don't really understand the logic behind the "AUTO" marking on the ring switch, which I presume is to alter the dwell time when auto wiper function is operating.  As for having both intermittent and auto function, no, mine has only the auto mode.  So stalk positions starting from the top are - OFF, AUTO, LOW, HIGH, and of course if the stalk is raised from the off position you get the 1 wiper pass (my manual intermittent function at present).  Nothing is covering the sensor and no interior lighting has been fitted, so I'm pretty sure there is a problem with the sensor system.

• Ensure your key is in the off position.
• Move your stalk from OFF to AUTO (doesn't matter where the ring position is)
• Turn your key to the ignition position

If all is well your autowipe should do a single sweep.

Thanks for the hint, I tried that (no key, but press the start button without foot on the brake turns on to "accessories").  Still no go unfortunately.  Maybe the sensor is the desert version (doesn't know what rain looks like !)

I should have remembered you don't have a key, but the test still stands. Start the car with the wipers in the AUTO position and you should get a 'diagnostic' single sweep.

Fault corrected during 1500Km service yesterday,....... apparently the rain sensor was not connected.  That'll do it !!  All good now.  I note however, that the pre-delivery service had been signed off, must'nt include an auto wiper function check (unless it's raining on the day perhaps)
