The DVLA has issued a list of offensive plates which it has banned. This includes BU14 SHT and SH14 TTY.

It has worked out combinations for the 14 plates which have been banned on the grounds of good taste and many starting PR, SH and SL have had to be ditched. 

This includes such variations such as PR14 CCK, SH14 TTY, SP14 STK, SL14 AGS and SK14 NKY

What makes 14 so special?

Nowt.

Just that you can make up a word by using the 1 as an i or l and the 4 as an A.

The number plate is made up of 2 alpha's, 2 number's and 3 alpha's.

If you get certain alpha's as the first and last then by using the 14 you can make a word.
