Hello,

Silly old me again  :P My local dealership has a Hyundai parts outlet but how does one go up to it? Do I just walk up and say "Hi, I'm after a set of the SR i30 LED tail lights thanks" and then expect them to hand them over the counter? Will they let me buy parts for my i30 that aren't meant to be on there? for example the i30 tourers chrome handles? Should I be expecting some weird looks? This is all very new to me so I have no idea what to expect... but if they can sell the LED tail lights to be at a decent price it saves me to hassle of ordering them off the net, plus I would rather support a local business then some place over in Korea.

Yes you go to the spare parts counter and ask, BUT, you will never get a fair price from Hyundai. They load the pricing so much that it's simply not worth trying that avenue at all. Secondly, they won't have the parts available as it's a rare request and not carried locally. You will wait a very long time for them to arrive.

Quite honestly, purchasing through the net with a supplier who has them in stock, with shipping price included is the way to go. If you pay with paypal, you have a degree of protection too. There is a relatively safe way to set all this up, if your interested.

VaerO. That's exactly what you do if you wish to buy the parts from them,as for the chrome handles,if your talking the inside door handles, which are completely chrome, that is a huge job to change them over,as for supporting local business,do you think they are looking after you when their selling parts to you they get for next to nothing,be different if they were only charging 10 or 15% more than what you can get things online but their not.
Phil Made a very good point to MANY MANY parts none of the Hy dealers keep in stock<I had to wait four days for a inter cooler hose for Gords sake, many of their larger parts aren't even in Australia

VaerO  :wts:

The spare parts department is mainly there to supply the service department with service parts and DIY customers with Filters and basic accessories as advertised on the Hyundai Website like floor mats etc..

They usually only sell Hyundai branded stuff and maybe a few other brands of oil and spark plugs and stuff from time to time (at fairly inflated prices)

Now don't be to haste.

Why not check out the price the dealer will charge and compare to internet price.

You never know they may match or give price once you take shipping into account.

Lead time can vary depending on what you are buying.

Advice
Check out all avenues and decide once full price details and stock availabilty know.

Happy hunting

...

I did that with the fog lights for the GD wagon. They are $1600ish for the two of them, genuine Hyundai stock. The ones from Korea are far cheaper.

I asked my dealer about getting the SR lights (led type) off them and all they said was they wouldn't fit... As far as I'm aware there is only one version of GD tail light socket out there. Why would they say this and not even give me a price?

The connectors might be different, but that is nothing some modding couldn't fix.

There are Korean LED taillight a available which fit the MY2012/13 GD no worries (at least as far as I've seen from the other Hyundai forum out there).

Wouldn't the Korean ones be the same one being used in the SR's?

Not necessarily, especially if the molding changed enough. They could also be pulling your leg just to avoid the hassle of getting you a price.

Your dealer is an idiot  I only asked my dealer recently and they do fit but the Hyundai price is much to high at $1400 :faint:

The best prices I've found are here 2012+ i30 LED Taillights Set 4pc - Korean Auto Imports
