A motorist was caught reversing back up a slip road on the M11 near Cambridge last week.

The young male driver went part-way down the entry slip road before seeing traffic at a standstill and put his VW Bora into reverse.

He crept back up the junction as other cars entered before driving off in the opposite direction.

Cyclist Andrew Fowler, 53, who filmed the incident on a head camera, said: "It was totally irresponsible.

"He clearly didn't care about the chaos that he was causing as he reversed up the slip road."

Mr Fowler sent the footage to Cambridgeshire police who said they would investigate when the crime was reported.

A spokeswoman said: "This type of manoeuvre is very dangerous and puts not only the motorists involved at risk, but other road users.

"It is against the law and drivers caught doing this face being fined or put before the courts."

extremely illegal here too,but it is a very common practice,I see it at least ten times a week.from my observations,it is the practice of either young woman,or people of the Asian Persuasion,happens when people go of the wrong exit ramp,or past it they back up the freeway to get back to the exit.or like this bloke,get onto the on ramp and then see congestion on the freeway
