Thought I'd let Allianz know about the new rims that were installed and they turned around and said they cannot insure me now because the rims are 1.5 inches wider than standard  told them to shove it and I am now with sgio at exactly the same cost ( $44 monthly ) with the added benefit of agreed value instead of market with Allianz so my little ordeal had a silver lining in the end :)

Allianz are very conservative. They spat the dummy in 2009 when I put a modified exhaust on my 2008 i30 CRDi.. Stupid part was I went to a broker and they got approval to cover my modified vehicle through Allianz for roughly the same price..

Now with RACT.

I just don't know how they manage to have any customers at all, it's their lose :disapp:

I had sgio a few years ago get a bit iffy with my 2003 Mirage after I put the twin cam head on it with a Greedy air Manager, told them to shove it as well and a week later they rang up apologising and offered me a years free insurance :)

Yes Allianz does not have a good track record,we're with QBE and have never had any issues with any of the mods we have done on either car,nor any issues with any claim we have had

Why on earth won't they insure you because of 1,5 inch wider rims..

Here the Insurance Co's doesn't care what mod's you do (styling wise) as long as you make sure to insure the car according to the extra cost.

Most of the insurance companies here aren't as strict, Allianz just don't accept modifications of any kind but as I said it's their lose and I'm back with sgio.

They obviously went away and reviewed their decision after realising that by causing me the inconvenience of looking elsewhere for insurance they were about to lose a customer who had multiple policies with them which would have lost them far more than $500 worth of customer satisfaction.

I remember trying to insure a GLi EL with AAMI they cracked up because it had the Tickford suspension.

So I asked if I could insure a EL XR6. Sure, they replied. What's the difference I asked.... Errrrr.

In the end I referred them to my claim free record with them dating back to when I got a licence. Asked them if that was the kind of customer they wanted. Definitely they replied. So why are you refusing to keep one I asked.

He went off to see the manager and low and behold I was insured again....

A few years later Suncorp took them over and stuffed the place up. My insurance nearly doubled in 6 months, I rang them, they revised the price. 12 months later same thing happened. Rang again, they were less willing, now I am with QBE for less than what I was paying in the first place.

Strange beasts insurance companies....
