A while back there was some discussion about the placement of wheel balancing weights on alloy rims (a thread about the choice i30 or Auris).
i30 or Auris?Well, i got my original Hyundai summer wheel set fitted today and......... lumps of lead on the outside of the alloy rims in plain sight. So it's a factory fit. All other cars in the showroom had them as well. I suppose it's a quick method, handy for production.
The stick-on weights (it would seem) are only for after-market wheels, or you have to ask for them at the first tyre change.
The big problem is that whacking lead weights onto an alloy rim can damage the protective coating on the rim.
It's a bit of a let down and not very pretty.
