Just read this... not great for Toyota... hopefully the same hasn't happened with similar Hyundai parts.   Luckily, it is reported, to be a post-factory supply issue.

:link: Toyota trying to locate ?thousands? of counterfeit airbag parts that could prove deadly in a crash

I am taking a reasonable guess the equivalent part in Hyundai vehicles does the same for airbags.  Excepting crash repairs, a few who have upgraded their steering wheels to have controls needed to change it.

Again hopefully it is only the one make and we have nothing to worry about - but might be good to keep an eye on it.

Not surprising really, I recall watching an Air Crash Investigators once where there were counterfeit and dodgy re-engineered  parts. They did a massive audit and worked out some even ended up on Air Force One.

There must be a few Dodgy Hyundai Parts out there, I remember on of the dealerships I went to to have a car serviced had a couple of cut down oil filters one being a knock off.

That's no good, who has had a crash that caused an air bag to inflate?
Not me yet, thank goodness.
