Hi there,

This subject may be covered somewhere, unfortunately I am unable to find it.

My 09 i30 has 78,000kms on it, and I am prepairing to change the transmission fluid. I do all other services on my car, however have never dropped the trani fluid in a car.

Is there anything i need to watch out for, or make sure I do or dont do?

Any suggestions are appreciated

Cheers

Don't know how it's done but firstly, I'd be changing fluid no later than 60k and when I did have it done by a trans specialist I asked them to replace the fluid which normally remains in the torque converter, so 100% of the oil was replaced. If you don't flush the torque converter, then you're just putting bad oil straight into your nice new oil. Cost a few bucks, but auto trans reliability is worth it IMO.

The auto trans specialist I used to use said this.
A lot of places don't do this because it wastes new fluid, but he said you have to pump it through until the fluid becomes clear because only then will you know that it has all been flushed.
A bit expensive because you use a lot of trans fluid, but the only way to do it properly.
