Well, somehow my Chrome seems to have been hijacked with the "Your-Home-Page.net" virus. Does anyone know of a reputable way to get rid of this thing.

There are some suggestions on the net, but I don't know if they themselves are malicious.

I am using Avast, malwarebytes, anti exploit and mcshield and it still got in.  :Pout: :fum:

You're getting a few bugs lately Phil, got to be careful when installing programs as most of them come with all sorts of rubbish these days.

Try this link :link: Remove Your-home-page.net hijack (Virus Removal Guide) scroll down and start at step 1 with AdwCleaner

Another trick I have seen some browser hijackers do is they inject a string into your Chrome shortcut that launches their homepage so even though you remove it as your default homepage in Chrome, it still pops up each time you launch it. Also it might not be a bad idea to download and run Malwarebytes (decline the free antivirus trial upon installation; you only need the antimalware bit) and see what it picks up.

Whenever I had issues with things not going right in my browsers, be it link hijacking or silly homepages, a good Malwarebytes scan has on most occasions sorted it out :goodjob2:

Wabbit@ Phil already has Malwarebytes, though I'm not sure whether it's the free or Pro version and whether PUP's and PUM's have been activated, if he follows the instructions in the link I provided that will cure the issue :goodjob2:

Malwarebytes Pro Paid for.

Purchased a $4. item for MIL and picked up more than I bargained for.

Just created my own chrome shortcut and that fixed up the homepage problem. I'll run the utility next Craig. Thanks a lot gents.  :hatoff:

There's more than one utility to run Phil, AdwCleaner is just the first step.
