I currently have a set of Thule bars for my current car. To adapt them to to my new i30 I'm going to need a foot pack and a conversion pack, about £100 retail or £70 from ebay.

Also I have noted the i30 specific conversion/plate pack for the thule 753 fixpoint foot pack is quite rare to find.

I have also seen some "cheap" bar sets ready to go for the i30 from around £50. Anyone have any experience of these?

For hatch:

Aluminium (£143.95) and Steel (£107.03)

for CW:

Thule Aero Bars £128.81 /  Hyundai £110.84) or Steel ( Thule £103.05 /  Hyundai £80.59)

Personally, it would be more cost effective to buy a new set.

I went for the Hyundai bars, very easy to fit. I was lucky to find some on ebay from a local seller. This is the only pic I have with the box on, taken outside my house

Thanks. pics of the hyundai bars look nice, but I think I'm going to have to stick with the Thule bars as they look wider and give me some tie-down space outboard of the fixpoint mounts. I generally carry odd shaped stuff rather than a roofbox.

Well a little time and good use of sniping program means I have the parts to adapt my existing bars for about £60. I guess the old mounts have some residual value on ebay too.
