Defenders detection/protection levels have been improving in leaps and bounds over the last few months and as of a couple of weeks ago Microsoft has now upgraded Defender to include phishing protection :) an extra bonus registry hack I came across a few weeks ago that I've been trialling will also give home base Win 10 computers the same PUA ( potentially unwanted application ) protection as the business edition - Microsoft Endpoint Security.

1.Tap on the Windows-key, type regedit and hit enter. This opens the Windows Registry editor.
2.Confirm the UAC prompt if it appears.
3.Navigate to the Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender
4.Right-click on Windows Defender and select New > Key.
5.Name that key MpEngine.
6.Right-click on MpEngine and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value.
7.Name the Dword MpEnablePus.
8.Double-click on MpEnablePus and enter the value 1.
9.Restart the PC.

BTW anyone know how to turn off the automatic/forced updates/reboots on Win10 Home?

The updating isn't so concerning to me... however I do I like to choose when the computer reboots... as sometimes I leave long running processes going which can't be automatically recovered after reboot.

Does this help

Sure does - haven't installed Win10 yet... but it was one of the things some mates moaned about.   Though they were moaning you couldn't do anything about it - however that was about 4-6 months ago.

Thanks for that.

No problem :goodjob2:

Hint for when you install Win10 - CCleaner will uninstall unwanted apps ( don't uninstall the Store App )

In services you can disable Data collection for those who are concerned with Microsoft wanting to know everything about you :)
